Panel discussion

The Artificial Intelligence Act, also known as the AI Act or AI Regulation, represents an important step towards regulating the development and use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the European Union. The aim of the Act is to support the responsible and safe use of AI. Nevertheless, the business community has expressed concerns that the AI Act could have a negative impact on innovation in Europe.

Together with representatives from business, science and politics, the obstacles and challenges of the AI Act were discussed at the HUB 31 start-up centre on 29 January 2025.

After an exciting introductory lecture by Prof. Dr Janine Wendt, many questions were addressed during the panel discussion. Nils Bergmann (dianovi GmbH), Prof. Dr. Kristina Sinemus (Hessian Minister for Digitalisation and Innovation), Christian Stadach (Tag & Nacht Media GbR), Prof. Dr. Janine Wendt (TU Darmstadt) and apl. Prof. Dr.-Ing Bettina Abendroth (TU Darmstadt) took part in the discussion.

The event was organised by the IHK Darmstadt together with the Competence Centre for Work and Artificial Intelligence (KompAKI), the Hessian Centre for Artificial Intelligence (hessian.ai), the HUB 31 start-up centre and the Mittelstand-Digital Zentrum Darmstadt.
