(Video-) Card Sorting
Card Sorting is mostly used in the design of websites and software. It is used for structuring and name finding. Here the contents of the software or website, which should be available later in the offer, are written on cards. Each participant then groups them into stacks so that, according to his or her understanding, cards that belong together lie together. This grouping gives hints on optimal menu structures and page layout from the user's point of view. In the last step, each participant names the stacks to give hints on suitable names. At the end the answers of all participants are compared and a selection is made according to the frequency of naming or grouping similarities.
